Cultural Insight
Becky: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Nico: When you refuse an invite, it's always good to say thank you, which is kiitos, for the invite in any case. If you only say ei kiitos, 'no thanks', you may sound a little bit rude! You should also explain a bit about why you can't make it.

Outro

Becky: And that’s all for this lesson. Don’t forget to check out the lesson notes, and we’ll see you in the next lesson!
Nico: Hei hei!

Hello how are you doing

Hello Geneviève,

Thank you for your question. We must say "Henkilö kirjoittaa tekstiviestiä" when an activity is currently taking place. In that case, we need to use the partitive form.

"Kirjoittaa tekstiviesti" words are in basic form and not very usable in sentences without adding the usable suffixes needed based on the sentence we want to express something with. Hope this helps a bit.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Aarni

Hei A question about the word of yesterday...sorry didn't find the right place to post it.

Why must we say;

Henkilö kirjoittaa tekstiviestiä.

The person is typing a text message.

With ä

But

kirjoittaa tekstiviesti

type a text message

lähettää tekstiviesti

send a text message

Without ä?

It seems to be the same case/ function

Thanks for your answer
