Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What kind of movies do you like?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about movies and ask other people about their favorite kinds of movies.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Millaisista elokuvista sinä pidät?
Pidän kauhusta.
Once more with the English translation.
Millaisista elokuvista sinä pidät?
“What kind of movies do you like?”
Pidän kauhusta.
“I like horror.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "What kind of movies do you like?"
That's: Millaisista elokuvista sinä pidät?
Listen to it again: Millaisista elokuvista sinä pidät?, Millaisista elokuvista sinä pidät?
“What kind of movies do you like?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Pidän [type of movie]sta/stä.
“I like [type of movie] movies.”
For example:
“I like horror.”
Pidän kauhusta., Pidän kauhusta.
