Actually, "by phone" can be translated both as "puhelimitse" or "puhelimella",

and "by email" can be translated also as "sähköpostitse" or "sähköpostilla."

It is however more common in daily speech to use the expressions "puhelimitse" and "sähköpostilla", and that is why they are different in this lesson. We try to introduce such phrases and expressions that are commonly used.

In this lesson:

Otamme sinuun yhteyttä puhelimitse tai sähköpostilla.

"We'll contact you by phone or email."

if both use the word "by"

why wouldn't "by phone " and 'by e-mail" have a similar ending...like illa?
