Perhaps there was simply a problem in the earth's atmosphere on the day I had the testing problem. I have noticed that often Skype transmissions between Japan, where my brother lives, and my home in Minnesota sometimes are affected so that the video doesn't work properly.

Thank you for the clarification on "pöytä" / desk. I really enjoy the video lessons. There are so many resources provided with this FinnishPod101 language course that I'm amazed. I could spend the whole day learning from it if I allowed myself to do so.

Hei Constance!

You are right, the same as in English, also in Finnish we have different words to describe different kinds of tables and desks. However, the simple word "pöytä" can be used generally about any kind of table or desk.

Thank you for your comment!

Hi Constance,

Could you please let us know what Testing Section weren't working? I just checked the "Vocabulary Flashcards", "Writing Questions" and "Review Questions" and they seem to be working fine.

Question. In the previous lesson I learned that a desk is a työpöytä, literally translated in my understanding to be a "work table". In the practice sentences in this lesson, "The manager takes a break at the desk" where the word pöydan is used for the desk. I understand pöytä to be a table. Is the word interchangeable for table or desk? In my dictionary I notice there are several terms for desk including the "pulpetti" in lesson 11, for school desk, and in my dictionary, "kirjoituspöyta" for writing desk. Would I be correct to say "pöytä" for anything resembling a desk? Thanks.
